Adidas engage shoppers with digital signage

Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall is one of Australia's busiest pedestrian shopping precincts. It's also home to Australia's newest adidas concept store. With a sports stadium theme the iconic international sports brand is attracting customers and engaging Bourke Street shoppers with digital signage.

 

As part of the recent store development, DAT Media successfully project managed the installation of a high quality, large format LED digital sign for the front window of the Bourke Street store. The installation and commissioning of the sign by DAT Media was only the beginning of the project as the content strategy then took shape for the larger than life adidas digital sign.

 

One of the challenges with this type of sign is custom content development. Due to the exclusive size and shape the screen requires content to be formatted and sized accordingly to render perfectly on the unique digital sign. As traditional video content is created to play on TV and mobile phone screens in landscape orientation, DAT Media’s content services team had to develop specifically tailored content to render on the tall, thin screen in portrait orientation.

 

The results can be seen in some of the photos below, however the screen has to be experienced to appreciate the full impact that adidas’ content makes in this extremely busy shopping thoroughfare. From the concept and design through to installation and then content management, DAT Media ensured that the new adidas store lights up the mall and continues to visually engage shoppers with state-of-the-art digital signage.
